CoMO Camp Kind Day 6: Be Kind to your Family

We’re getting close to the end of Camp Kind! If you missed previous days, you find the whole list linked on our main Camp Kind page. It’s Day 6 and we’re going to focus on how to Be Kind to your Family. Whether near or far, family is an important part of your life. We’ll list out a few ideas on kind things to do for your family, but we know there are other ways too. If you’ve got an idea of how to shower kindness on your family, definitely do that! Share on social media using #comocampkind so that we can see your amazing ideas. You can tag us @comosepta on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram…and you can tag family members too! Make sure you scroll to the end, because we’ve got a bonus craft for Mother’s Day!

Craft Corner – Mailable Hugs

A photo of a completed mailable "hug". Two hands are cut out of paper and attached by a length of string. There are words on the hands which read "I miss you... more than this much!"

For our craft today we’ll make a hug that you can easily mail. We know it’s rough not getting to see family that doesn’t live in your household right now, and with this you can “hug” them from afar!
1. Trace your hands on a piece of paper and cut them out.
2. Decorate them if you’d like.
3. Spread your arms out. Measure and cut a piece of string that runs from one hand to the other.
4. Attach apaper hand to each end of the string.
Tada! You have a set of hands that are just as far apart as your own.. perfect for hugging. And easily tucked into an envelope to mail off to whoever you think needs a hug from you.

Activity – Family Game Day

A family is gathered around a table playing a board game

Now here’s a great one to do with the family in your house – gather everyone up for some games! You can head outside and play tag, throw a frisbee, shoot some hoops.. so many fun options outside. And when outside time is done, there’s just as much fun inside! Pull out the board games, do a puzzle, challenge your family on your favorite video game. You could even video chat with family that’s not in your house to play charades or Pictionary.

Food Fix – Family Favorite

Every family has their family favorite foods. This time YOU get to help out with the making! What’s more kind than helping out? 🙂 There are so many ways to help. You can gather ingredients, you can measure and stir things. Maybe you pour everyone’s drink, or maybe you set the table. Or perhaps your help comes after the making is done, and you help clean up. That favorite food is twice as tasty when you’ve helped out.
