CoMO Camp Kind Day 7: Be Kind to the Earth

Welcome back for the final day of Camp Kind! If you missed previous days, you find the whole list linked on our main Camp Kind page. Here on Day 7 we’ll reflect on ways to Be Kind to the Earth. We’ll list out a few ideas on kind things to do for our Earth, but we know there are other ways too. If you’ve got an idea of how to care for the earth, definitely do that! Share on social media using #comocampkind so that we can see your amazing ideas. You can tag us @comosepta on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Craft Corner – Recycled Craft

For today’s craft project, we’ll be recycling some items you might have lying around the house to make them a bit more fun! The animals above are make from toilet paper tubes. And we bet you could make even more kinds – maybe even a whole zoo! It doesn’t have to stop at animals either – one young friend has made ninjas before. If ninjas can be made, it would seem other people could be created too. Imagine making the characters from your favorite story so that you could have them act it out! And if you don’t have any toilet paper tubes around right now, just grab a sheet of paper that’s been used on one side and roll it up and fasten. Or cut the front face off an empty cereal box and roll that up, and fasten with tape. We can’t wait to see what you create.

Activity – Take a Hike

A family walks through the woods

We think that one of the best motivators for being kind to the earth is getting out and appreciating it. So we challenge you to “take a hike!” Get outdoors if you can, go on a walk with your family, and enjoy the sights. If you’re not able to get outside for some reason though, don’t worry.. you can get to go on a virtual tour – through the rainforest! Check out the video below. There are controls in the top corner that let you make it look left, right, or even turn all the way around. We spotted a sloth hanging out a couple minutes in.. can you find him?

Food Fix – A present from the Earth

A variety of fruit and cut vegetables are arranged in bowls for snack

And we’ll wrap up with one final food fix.. this one has a twist. The Earth is kind to YOU! Think of all the wonderful things that grow that are good for you to eat. Choose some of your favorite fruits and veggies and dig in!

We hope you had fun doing these Camp Kind activities with us this week. We miss getting to see everyone face-to-face too, but we can still have fun and be kind together in this way. If you were busy and didn’t get to things this week, don’t worry. You can do any of these activities any time you wish.. and we’d still love to see! Stay safe and stay kind! 🙂
