Access Arts – Access Arts is designed with the idea that having individuals with disabilities work alongside those of typical abilities is beneficial for all. As such, all of their classes are inclusive for those of any ability level.

Adapted Gymnastics – This program, sponsored by the MU PT school, works with children ages 3-18 with various impairments to safely participate in modified gymnastics, gross motor and socialization activities. MU PT students work with other Health Profession students as “coaches” where they assist each child based on their individual needs.

Adaptive swim lessons – These classes for ages 3 and up are designed to provide a safe, enjoyable recreation experience for individuals who have physical disabilities, impairments or are developmentally disabled.

Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding – Cedar Creek is a non-profit agency that provides therapy to more than 200 riders per year. Therapeutic riding can help individuals in many areas – balance, coordination, cognition, socialization, and more.

Challenger – The Challenger Division of Little League Baseball provides boys and girls ages 5-18 who have developmental or physical disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the full benefits and excitement of playing on a baseball team.

DanceAbility – An offering from Missouri Contemporary Ballet, DanceAbility gives dancers with different abilities (ages 4 through adult) an opportunity to learn and explore the world of dance. This program was designed by physical therapists and MCB instructors to meet the dancers’ unique needs and abilities. Classes are led by special educators and dance instructors with a 1 to 1 ratio per student.

Giving Song – Giving Song offers adaptive music instruction in which they utilize physical, visual, and auditory adaptations to make music accessible to their clients. They also have music therapy offerings.

Special Olympics – Special Olympics is an international organization which provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people 8 years and older with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Columbia Parks & Recreation participates in 9 Special Olympic sports: Aquatics, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Golf, Softball, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball.

SWIM – The Swimming and Water Instruction Modification (SWIM) Program began as an adapted swimming lesson program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders or similar conditions. Run by MU OT students and faculty, each emerging swimmer is paired with coaches (typically two per swimmer) who work to adjust their swimming instruction to that child’s level and needs.

TRYPS – TRYPS is an organization designed to introduce children to performing arts theater. They have an Inclusive class (ages 6-12) that you may sign up for, held on Saturday mornings.
