Camp Kind, Day 3: Be kind to your friends

Hello all and welcome back to the third day of Camp Kind! We hope you all had fun celebrating animals yesterday. If you missed previous days, you can go to Day 1 to celebrate teachers or you can head to Day 2 to see the animal activities. Today’s theme is Be Kind to your Friends! We’ll list out a few ideas below, but you don’t have to feel limited to those. If you’ve got another way to shower kindness on your friends, you can do that too! Share on social media using #comocampkind so that we can see your amazing ideas. You can tag us @comosepta on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (and you can tag your friend too so they can see!)

Craft Corner – Kindness Rocks!

Three decorated rocks. One says "Choose kind!", another says "You rock!", and the third says "Stay cool."

For our craft today, we’re going to make kindness rocks! Hunt around for a rock (or more than one if you want to make more.) Now have a bit of fun decorating! We just used markers for our rocks up above, but you can absolutely paint them too, or even warm them up a bit and use crayons – they’ll melt onto the warm rock. (Be careful if you do it that way though.. you don’t want to get hurt.) After you’ve got your design all done comes the best part – hiding them to be found! Drop them off on the porch of a friend or classmate, and know you’ll be making their day brighter when they find it.

If you can’t find a rock, or maybe the weather won’t cooperate, you can make a friendship bracelet by braiding some yarn or even just decorate up a card for your buddy. Slip it into their mailbox so they get a great surprise from you.

Activity – Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt list

For our activity today, we’ll be doing a scavenger hunt! The first half of our list can be found indoors or out, and has lots of right answers! We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Find something that:
-is red
-is soft
-is round
-is fun
-is bumpy
-is cold
-smells good
-makes noise
-has letters
-you wear
-you can eat
-you love
If the weather is cooperating, you can head outside to look for the other page of items.. including rocks for that craft up above! You can download the two lists below if you’d like to print them out:

Food Fix – S’mores

graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate lined up waiting to be assembled into a s'more

Everyone knows S’mores are a pretty fantastic “camp” food. Maybe you like your marshmallow lightly toasted, maybe you like it extra crispy, or maybe you’ve got your own twist on how a s’more is best assembled. Let’s hear it if you do! And s’mores are easy to make in the oven or microwave if outdoors can’t pan out. They’re just as tasty no matter where.

This snacktime comes with a bonus task though – while you’re getting you’re S’more made to perfection, call up a friend on the phone or on Zoom. Give them a compliment, tell them a joke, talk about a shared memory.. bringing a smile to their face will be a great gift!
