Camp Kind Day 1 - Be Kind to Teachers

Hey hey everyone, welcome to the first day of Camp Kind! Not only is this the first day of camp, but today also kicks off Teacher Appreciation Week. So, our kindness focus today is clear – Be Kind to Teachers! We’ll list out a few ideas below, but you don’t have to feel limited to those. If you’ve got another way to celebrate showing kindness to teachers, you can do that too! Share on social media using #comocampkind so that we can see your amazing ideas. You can tag us @comosepta on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. If your teacher has a social media account, you can tag them too so that they can see you’re thinking of them! If you’re following along with the CPS Spirit Week too, all of the ideas today can be done while wearing pajamas, so you’re good for both! If you’d like to get in the kindness mood as you read on, you can check out our Camp Kind playlist.

Craft Corner – Appreciation Cards!

doodled designs for cards to send to teachers, each with a pun slogan. You're the grape-est. Miss you a bunch. Berry thankful for you.

Let your teacher know how much you appreciate them by making them a card. We’ve made a few punny designs that you can print out and decorate, or you can use them as inspiration and design your own card. If you know your teacher’s address, you can drop off your finished card in the mail to them. If not, just take a picture of it and send it to them in e-mail or on social media. Be sure to add a note for your teacher, maybe of a fond memory in class, or your favorite thing that they taught you.

You can download our designs here if you’d like to use them, just click the download button below. Each one is created as both a full page coloring sheet, or a ready-to-fold card that says “keep on being YOU!” on the inside. Let us see those amazing finished designs!

Activity – Share stories

Gathering around a campfire to share ghost stories is a pretty quintessential camp experience. For Camp Kind, we’re going to leave the spookiness as optional, but keep the important part – the story! Can’t make a campfire? No problem, you can use the video above for ambience. You can make up a tale of your own, curl up with a favorite book, or take part in a read-aloud (in your home, with a friend via phone or zoom call, or a story read on YouTube.) No matter what, your teacher will love to know that you’re reading.. and we’d love to know what story you chose!
