We have been so pleased with the community interest and support shown to our group, and we’re not yet even two weeks old! Our community is great.

KOMU ran a story about us a few days after our startup meeting, telling a bit about us and about our happiness at getting so many folks to show up to that initial meeting. You can find their story by clicking here: Missouri’s only special education PTA gets started in Columbia.

Then earlier this week, the Columbia Daily Tribune ran an article as well: New not-for-profit wants to advocate for disabled It has lots of good information about us at CoMO SEPTA as well as the wonderful folks at Missouri Disability Empowerment (MoDE) who helped us get up and running. (You can learn more about both of us in-person this Saturday at Cosmo if you like!)

And last but certainly not least, a great big thank you goes out to Missouri Employers Mutual. Not only are they letting us use their conference room for our Social Night (8/21 @ 6pm, feel free to join us!), but after hearing about us they decided to give us a very generous donation to help get us started. With an estimate of more than 1700 students utilizing special services in the Columbia Public School district this year, your kindness and thoughtfulness will no doubt impact many families for the better.
