BCFR aims to effectively and efficiently use agency and other available resources to enable Boone County residents with developmental disabilities to thrive in the community, connect with others and achieve their personal goals.
Missouri Disability Empowerment (MoDE)
MoDE is a grassroots advocacy team working to promote inclusivity. They work at both state and local levels to help all people reach their potential.
Missouri Parents Act (MPACT)
MPACT is a non-profit that serves children with disabilities, their families, and communities throughout the state. Their primary goal is to assist parents in their effort to effectively advocate for their children’s educational rights and services.
National Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. CoMO SEPTA is proud to be a part of the National PTA®.
Services for Independent Living (SIL)
SIL is a non-profit that works to give those with disabilities independence within the community. Working for those ages 10 and up, they offer programs focused on cooking, independent living skills, advocacy.. and some good social time with Wii Excellerate, playing video or board games with peers.
United 4 Children
United 4 Children strives to improve the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive well being of our children by enriching the knowledge of families, teachers, and caregivers. They’re based in St. Louis, but they host free trainings in the Columbia area as well, so check out their training calendar from time to time.
