CALL TO ACTION:
There will be a discussion of policy KKB at the next School Board meeting. We would love to have everyone come out and listen, and encourage public comments. Even if you don’t feel like
speaking, we need a strong showing of support to prove the interest in this topic and needed change.

We do ask that any comments are respectful and not attacking anyone. Just speak from your heart and bring your children, if you feel it is appropriate.

Wear black to show support – bring recording into the open and out of the dark.

For those that may not be aware of this policy, KKB is the school district’s policy on recording IEP and 504 meetings. Currently, the policy only allows recordings for those that have a disability that would warrant the meeting being recorded. Parents that want to record the meeting for any other reason are denied. We are advocating for this policy to be changed to allow any parent the ability to openly record the meeting for any reason. As Missouri is a one-party consent state, it is not illegal for a recording to be made of the meeting by a parent without teacher knowledge. We want the recording to be in the open, so that teachers are aware they are being recorded.

Hope to see you there!
